Meet the Team

  • Jason Baldari

    FOUNDER & CREATIVE DIRECTOR

I was born in New York City, and grew up on the Jersey Shore. I discovered my proclivity for creating pretty imagery at a pretty young age, which lead me to Rutgers, and then to Full Sail, where I had the benefit of a group of talented friends who liked to figure stuff out. After discovering what was possible with After Effects and Photoshop, it didn’t take many years to find myself on the upward path towards refinement and mastery of motion design, which I’ve been at now for 2 decades.

This path started in broadcast TV, traveled through DVD & BluRay Design (Twilight, Ghost Rider, Almost Famous, Scary Movie), behind the scenes content design (The Hobbit, The Expendables), home video campaigns (Star Trek, Ender’s Game), theatrical movie trailers (Ready or Not, Climax, Knives Out, Zombieland, Fast9, Bad Boys 3), the latter bringing me 2 Clio Awards and a Golden Trailer nomination.

At Astronomer Design I use my experience as a veteran motion designer and team leader to collaborate with directors, using motion design to help them to hone unrefined ideas, make sense of the parts of their stories that don’t quite make sense, and create a visual language to dial in the tone they’re looking to achieve.

My recent collaborations have been with director Ethan Hawke on his documentary feature ‘The Last Movie Stars’, director Penny Lane on her documentary feature ‘Listening to Kenny G,’ director Garret Price on his documentary ‘Woodstock 99: Peace, Love, and Rage,’

In my spare time, I love playing and building electric guitars, enjoying a good single malt Scotch whiskey, butter searing a perfectly sous-vide prepped filet mignon at a remote campsite, and hiking in our nation’s glorious national parks.

  • Chuck Dulin

    FOUNDER & PRODUCER

Growing up in Michigan, Chuck loved math, watching 80s movies, and drawing space stations. He took his love of doodling and solving problems, and headed to the University of Michigan to study aerospace engineering. After a freshman year of failing grades in his science and engineering classes, he received top marks in a film history class which led him to switch majors. Chuck started learning about filmmaking, post production and creating computer graphics. After graduating with a Bachelor of Art degree in Film & TV, his first few jobs found Chuck learning how to create photoreal visual effects, rotoscoping, and motion graphics for commercial clients in Detroit. Eventually, he packed up his belongings and headed west to sunny California.

At Astronomer Design, Chuck uses his experience designing motion graphics and supervising vfx to help editorial and production teams solve their graphical challenges. His recent design projects include The Last Movie Stars [CNN+, HBO], Listening to Kenny G [HBO, Ringer Films], and History of Swear Words [Netflix] and his vfx credits include The Flight Attendant [HBO], YOU [Netflix], This Is Us [20th Television, NBC], and South Side [Comedy Central, HBO].

In his spare time, he likes eating dark chocolate, reading non-fiction and drinking good whiskey.
